Kaia is quite strange in appearance, not exactly amazingly attractive yet not unappealing- in fact, he's quite captivating. He stands at 5'9, lanky and lean with slightly muscled arms, but he is definitely a skinny man. He skin is a pale olive tone, littered with little scars and strange puncture wounds. He has a narrowed face with hollowed cheekbones and a straight nose. Kaia's lips are a soft pink, slightly full not thin at all and his eyebrows are as well, dark like his hair. He has slightly down turned eyes, giving him a mopey, brooding sort of look, his irises a lovely medium brown. His jawline isn't incredibly prominent, yet not weak either. However, his best feature is undoubtedly his hair. It's thick and silky, a beautiful dark brown color that resembles the earth, and its curly too, shaved on one side and those thick curls thrown to the other. Kaia has got an adorable, porcelain white smile that brightens his entire face, and is sure to lift anyone's spirits. Hey, this broody thing does have a heart!

Kaia...is a piece of work. He is the definition of standoffish when sober, not usually talking to anyone- he's the guy who sits across from you on the bus with headphones in, not speaking at all from Point A to Point B. But when intoxicated or high, he lacks complete inhibitions and becomes completely reckless, unless he takes more depressants, which turn him into the guy you see just sitting on a bench, not moving a muscle. He is rather cold in appearance, however is humorous, giving an occasional twitch at the corner of his mouth to resemble a half smile. Most of the time, he carries a bored expression, always appearing tired however. It can definitely be said that Kaia does not think normal thoughts; when looking at a person, he typically imagines bedding them, stealing from them or burning them alive- and yes, in that order. He has next to a complete lack of morals, which can also be used in description to the amount of f*cks he gives about anything or anyone. Kaia is that weird, quiet junkie you barely knew during your senior year of high school, a Jeffery Dahmer-esque type of fellow. Let it never be said that Mr. Hollows isn't talented though; he plays damn near every instrument and has a voice that can melt your heart. If there's one thing besides drugs that makes the man feel, it would be music.

His father, Jamie Hollows, was a student at Oxford University, studying abroad in Croatia when he came across Natalia, a Vodanoj. She did entice him, and slept with him but before she could kill him, other humans arrived near the lake shore. Natalia ended up pregnant and birthed a half blood child by the time Jamie left Croatia. Natalia raised Kaia in the glass castle, where he received brutal treatment from the other Vodanoj for being half human. He saw the horrors that went on there, even engaged in eating humans, killings and was exposed to the revelry of the Vodanoj. Natalia was nearly excommunicated from the castle, and after years of harsh treatment, she couldn't take it anymore. She filled Jamie's dreams with images compelling him to return to Croatia, which he soon did. Then, Natalia abandoned little Kaia with his father. Unsure of what to do, Jamie returned to England with Kaia and had not much choice but to keep his son, putting them both in a less than fortunate situation.
Kaia was sent to school, but he had never truly been around humans. He then began to alarm the other students and teachers with strange behavior, this only increased when he was all alone with no one to play with on the playground. Kaia was then examined by a counselor, and all he spoke about were glass castles, cannibalistic lake people and souls dancing in the night.
He was then taken to a mental institution immediately.
He met other's there, and Kaia was soon introduced to real crazy. At the institution, Jamie did meet Cynthia, a pretty child therapist who he did soon fall for. Kaia was returned home after some months, during the time he had been reading up on Ireland (which soon became his favorite country), however he seemed to return much worse. He was now the kind of kid to strangle cats and burn ants alive with a magnifying glass. It wasn't long before he set fire to the house- and then the school during junior high. This was around the time Jamie and Cynthia got engaged, and she was pregnant. For setting the school on fire, Kaia was sent to a juvenile detention center in seventh grade. There, he was exposed to all sorts of drugs which started to trigger his magic. By the time he returned home, he was to be a sophomore, and Jamie and Cynthia had two children, William and Ashley. Under further examination, Kaia was diagnosed with a swarm of disorders which would manifest themselves throughout his life. He became close with his little siblings, truly loving them, however his chaotic behavior only intensified.

Cynthia became pregnant again, however she died during labor due to complications, as well as the infant. Jamie launched into the deepest depression of his life- which got Kaia thinking. Why stay here. Why fight to be alive when there's only death in the end. Why live when you can die beautifully. So, Kaia lit himself on fire in the bathtub upstairs.
He didn't die, but he was rushed to the hospital immediately. He endured months of suffering, painful skin grafts, although he did heal a little bit faster than the average human. But something deep within Kaia almost liked the pain. At the hospital, Jamie got close with a nurse named Paige, and once Kaia returned home, they began to date. While Kaia was getting suspended from school every other month, Jamie and Paige fell in love and eventually got married. But Paige was the epitome of an evil stepmother. With Jamie's back turned, Paige emotionally, verbally and physically abused the children. Since William and Ashley wouldn't speak up, Kaia had to, however his father was long gone. Jamie called him crazy, dismissed his son who spoke of cannibals and glass castles. No one ever wants to believe the sociopath. Jamie didn't want to believe there was anything wrong with Paige. After Kaia had gotten caught stealing from the mall, he was taken to jail for a few days and when he returned, he discovered Paige had kept Ashley in the closet and his little sister nearly died.
Kaia wouldn't take it anymore. While his father was away at work, Kaia strangled Paige, tied her to the bedpost, and burned the bedroom down.
Maybe he liked watching the skin melt from muscle.
And muscle away from bone.
After that, the night before his graduation, Kaia ran away before anyone knew, and has not returned since.

Cedar wood hardens the skin on his back and the backs of his forearms, while patches of moss sprout on his chest, his neck, shoulders, stomach, legs, back and arms, leaving 60% skin visible, 40% moss. On the backs of his hands sprout hens and chicks, a strange prickly, non-flowering plant that's rather aesthetically pleasing. His ears resemble an elf's, his canines elongate into fangs, and his nails become sharp, transparent claws. His curly hair grows down to his waist and heliotropes blossom in different places every time he shifts into this form, new patches blooming within the moss wand older patches dying with every movement.

Kaia calls the Blue Caves of Croatia his home, coastal crevices half submerged in water where neon blue light bounces off of every rocky wall within. Beautiful. But that's only the surface. Dive deep enough, and you will come across the Glass Castle, Kaia's true home. It's walls are made of normal glass, moonstone, sea glass and mirrors, coral reefs flourishing in every direction. Within the castle, half of the rooms are submerged, the rest are filled with air. Within, this is where Kaia grows his gardens, and wherever there is water, Gabby roams freely.

Pets, Familiars & Companions
-Gabriela Hollows-
Gabby. Kaia's one and only companion. She is his everything. A spunky little cuttlefish that found him one day about to drown in the Blue Caves because of an overdose. He was sinking into the depths to drown and die, but Gabby took an interest in the fleshy creature- so she swam on over and nipped at his arm with that little beak of hers. The pain woke Kaia up. Ever since then, Gabby stayed with him, after all he would offer her food and protection. He likes to say the little cuttlefish helped build the Glass Castle (which is up for debate), and that Gabby is the one he has long conversations with (Up for debate as well). He says Gabby likes fire too (Also up for debate). It has not been proven if Gabby can actually talk, if she only talks to Kaia or Kaia is just schizophrenic. Who knows, both seem to be a little around the bend.
